Spread over an area of 90 000 square kilometers, Maldives is wholly made up of 1192 islands, all grouped in 26 sectors or atolls. Today for administrative functioning these islands have been categorized into 20 atolls, though each island situated in this south Asian nation is a symbol of matchless scenery and topography. The coral islands are all divided by this aforementioned ring-like atolls, in such a way that one has to know our seas to travel through them.
